The popular TV and radio personality, Jim Kozimor was among a dozen Maloof Sports and Entertainment employees to be let go within the last week.
Kozimor was a popular figure among Kings fans. He was the host of House Party Live, a radio broadcaster on KHTK 1140am, and a sideline reporter for the Sacramento Kings. Kozimor spent the last 11 seasons covering the Kings and Monarchs. He quickly won over the fans with his energy and personality, thus developing a mutual affection for each other.
"I honestly thought I would spend the rest of my life in Sacramento," said Kozimor, who had just started construction on a new home in East Sacramento. "People in Sacramento have been genuinely nice to me. That's the hardest part about leaving."
With Kozimor gone, Maloof Sports and Entertainment decided to cancel the House Party Live pre-game and post-game show. No further announcements were made on the other hosts.
The Kings had the lowest attendance in the NBA for the 2008-2009 season. Couple that with a difficult economy and the franchise reportedly lost millions of dollars in revenue.
The Kings released the following comment on the departure of Kozimor, "Like all Team Members who were involved, Jim is a good, talented person who made many valuable contributions to our company," said John Thomas, president of Maloof Sports and Entertainment. "We thank him sincerely and wish him the very best."
