Scott County sophomore-to-be Tamron Manning is emerging as one of the top basketball players in the state. I spoke with Manning at the Eddie Ford Stimulus Tournament over the weekend.
Scott County is one of the favorites to win the 2010 state championship. They have several Division I prospects on their team, including Manning.
"I'm mostly a driver," Manning said. "I like to attack the basket. I've been working on my ball handling a lot. I'm trying to become a point guard. I have to work on my outside shot a little more also."
The 6-foot-4 Manning doesn't hold any offers right now but he's getting looked at some of the top college programs in the country.
"I've received letters from Miami, Florida, Alabama, Kentucky, Louisville, Indiana and Tennessee. One of the things I'm looking for is a good coach. I want to play for a coach that runs a good offense, that I will fit into, like a dribble drive offense."
Manning helped lead Scott County to a championship in the Stimulus Tournament. Scott County defeated the Georgia Ballers 74-71, in the championship game.
