Warner Home Video has announced that The Time Traveler's Wife, starring Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams, will be coming to DVD and Blu-ray on February 9, 2010 -just in time for Valentine's day.
Being someone that can appreciate a good "chick-flick" when the situation calls for it, I was pretty disappointed with this film. I thought it was a great concept, just poorly executed -which resulted in a movie that didn't emotionally connect with it's audience. Bana and McAdams actually have great chemistry together, and both of them put in pretty solid performances; where the movie fell flat was the script. It just didn't have enough emotionally charged moments allowing the audience to connect to our main characters with a unique problem in their relation ship. Instead, The Time Traveler's Wife spent too much time on the time traveling concept as opposed to fleshing out the main characters. It's not a terrible movie by any means, and does have some touching moments in the film, it's just that more could have been done with the characters. Check it out, see what you think, some of you out there may enjoy it significantly more than I did, specifically those who have read the novel on which the movie is based.
As a member of the male population I will say this, "Guys, it's probably one of the more tolerable chick-flicks you could watch with your significant other."
As far as special features go, it looks like there isn't going to be much included on either the DVD or Blu-ray releases. But what is included sounds like it could be interesting enough. You can pre-order The Time Traveler's Wife now over at Amazon.com.
