Everyone says they support the troops, but rarely does anyone actually do something to prove it. Words are cheap and meaningless unless there are actions to support them. Rob Herbert wrote a spectacular Op-Ed in the NY Times today about the unfair burden we place on the military and military families to fight our wars. The American people need to wake up and realize that they can no longer sit idle, consuming extravagantly and complaining about everything, while the toughest burdens get passed on to minority or underrepresented portions of the population. It's time we start sacrificing more in order to build a more perfect union. This means more taxes, less spending, mandatory national service, curbing greenhouse gases and other pollutants, etc. It may seem unpalatable, but so did the Robitussin your mother used to feed you when you were sick. And you know what? In the end, it made you better. Suck it up America, and take the yucky medicine.
