New photos have revealed sexual abuse of Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib. Senior military sources have confirmed abuses. President Obama has refused to release the photos to the media claiming it will only inflame Iraqis to attack our troops. This is the same excuse the Bush administration used for the Abu Ghraib abuse scandal in 2004. The pictures that Obama refuses to release are reported to illustrate American soldiers torturing and sexually abusing detainees.

During the election, Obama promised to bring our troops home by March of 2009 and called for a new era of openness and rule of law. Now Obama is pushing the target for withdrawal to August of 2010. He broke his promise about releasing the photos of abuse in Iraq. Obama said he would “fight the release” of dozens of photographs depicting the torture and sexual abuse of prisoners in Iraq and Afghanistan. The photos depicting 400 cases of abuse were ordered released under the freedom of information act. Retired general Antonio Taguba who oversaw the investigation backed the president's decision not to release the abuse photos. Senators Joseph Lieberman and Lindsay Graham also supported the President's decision.

Brig. Gen. Janis Karpinski who oversaw Abu Ghraib and was suspended over abuses alleged there were Israeli interrogators working at the Prison. Israel's Mossad is notorious for their cruel and sadistic torture practices and torture was legal in Israel until their Supreme Court outlawed it in 1999. During the original abuse scandal there were reports and photos of sexual abuse in the women's wing of Abu Ghraib. Only a select few members of Congress  were allowed to view the evidence including Jane Harman and Diane Feinstein, both of whom are close with the pro-war lobby.

The photos depict a uniformed soldier receiving oral sex from a female detainee and another soldier sodomizing a young male detainee. If these picture are released it is obvious it will inflame the Arab world. Imagine if it was our own sons and daughters who were being sexually abused and tortured by an occupying force. We would be outraged and many of us would support terrorism against that occupying force. Don't think the same thing cannot happen to our own citizens by our government. We must not tolerate evil being done under the name of our nation and our military. These acts will only promote more terrorism against our nation and troops. President Obama promised to change America's image abroad but is only covering up for the crimes committed under the Bush administration.
