Due to the many unanswered questions left by politicians, a new website has been created where the public can ask Los Angeles City Hall politicians and staff questions regarding the city. In addition, there will be a section where the public can ask Second Council District candidates questions or state their opinion about issues. Los Angeles city officials can ask the public questions, as well as their opinions regarding different issues. The purpose of this website is to provide a virtual forum where city officials and the public can collaborate with one another on issues occurring in the city. There will be moderators for the website that ensure that city officials answer the public’s questions in a timely fashion.

This website will serve as a virtual forum of deliberative democracy, which is a democratic process between elected officials (representative democracy) who utilize opinions of the public for their policy making decisions. Rather than other deliberative democracy settings, which take place through town hall meetings, calling individuals and surveying their opinions, or holding a few day forum, citizens can express their concerns and opinions about issues online. The innovation of this website combines modern day technology with old fashioned citizen engagement.
