Annie Bloom's Books is sponsoring a very special event just in time for Halloween.  "Dragons, Ghosts, and Grails:  A Young Adult Halloween Reading" features three great, local YA authors all in one night.  Susan Fletcher, Laura Whitcomb, and Pamela Smith Hill will each read the spookiest 13 minutes from their books and then take questions from the audience.

Susan Fletcher is the author of The Dragon Chronicles, a three book series which includes Dragon's Milk, Flight of the Dragon Kyn, and Sign of the Dove.

"Kaeldra has always been set apart from her foster family by her foreign birth and her green eyes, which are the eyes of dragon sayers, according to myth.  The myth turns real when a mother dragon is killed by villagers and it falls to Kaeldra to get three orphan draclings to safety."

The Fetch, released earlier this year, is Laura Whitcomb's second supernatural love story.

"Calder is a Fetch, a death escort.  The first of his kind to step from Heaven back to Earth.  The first to fall in love with a mortal girl.  But when he climbs backwards out of that death scene into the chaos of the Russian Revolution, he tears a wound in the ghost realm, where the spirits of the dead begin a revolution of their own."

Pamela Smith Hill is the author of three "stand alone" YA novels:  Ghost Horses, Voice from the Border, and The Last Grail Keeper.  In The Last Grail Keeper, she combines a little myth, a little magic, and some time travel to come up with a new tale from King Arthur's Court.

"Felicity Jones, a modern American girl, travels to England.  While there, Felicity discovers that she is descended from an ancient line of Grail Keepers and that it's her duty to protect the Grail, no matter what the cost."

"Dragons, Ghosts, and Grails" takes place at Annie Bloom's Books on Wednesday, October 28, at 7 pm.  Annie Bloom's is located at 7934 SW Capitol Highway in Portland.  For more info on this and other events, please call 503-246-0053 or check out their website.

If unable to attend the festivities on Wednesday night, please note that Susan Fletcher, Laura Whitcomb, and Pamela Smith Hill are also scheduled to appear at A Children's Place Bookstore later in the week.  Time: 11 am.   Date: Saturday, October 31.  A Children's Place is located at 4807 NE Fremont Street in Portland.  For more info, please call 503-284-8294 or check here
