Shannon Brinkman

If you've been meaning to put a little boogie in your woogie, head down to the San Francisco Conservatory of Music on Saturday for piano prince Henry Butler.

A living repository of jazz knowledge, the veteran player can dish out everything from a bouncy New Orleans stomp to straight-out bop, with some Caribbean, classical and rock sounds thrown in for good measure. All of which are likely to come out and play during a solo performance such as Saturday night's San Francisco Jazz Festival gig.

Interesting sidelight: Although blind since birth, Butler is also an accomplished art photographer.
