Losing the last ten pounds can be challenging, especially if you feel you've hit a plateau. The three things you need to achieve results are diet, training and supplements. In part one, we addressed how to tweak your diet to get past the plateau. Now let's take a look at the training.
You need to be doing HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) or Plyometrics. You burn more fat in less time and this is one of the key factors to added weight loss. You are essentially “tricking” your body into thinking it’s starting and stopping a workout. So you will throw a sprint into your walking after five minutes and then go back to just walking, etc. There are a variety of HIIT exercises that you can incorporate into your training that will speed up your metabolism. Some of the basics are: Jumping jacks, mountain climbers, high knees, butt kicks, jumping rope, and the list goes on. The key to all of this is to start and stop, using high intensity intervals. Surprisingly, you will achieve better results doing HIIT versus 45 minutes on the treadmill going at a steady pace. Instead, throw a few sprints into your treadmill program every five minutes. The idea is to walk, run, walk, sprint, etc to constantly trick your body. If you are short on time, try adding HIIT into your weight lifting program to spike your metabolism. Instead of resting in between sets, do a minute of jumping jacks to achieve maximum results. By doing HIIT or Plyometrics, you will definitely get past any plateaus. Be sure to check back for part three where we'll discuss supplements for losing the last ten pounds.
