Coming up this Thursday, November 12, three metro area Whole Foods Market locations will team up with Forgotten Harvest to host a holiday food and wine tasting. Proceeds from the event will assist in furthering Forgotten Harvest’s mission to relieve hunger in the Detroit metropolitan area. The public is invited to support Forgotten Harvest at the Whole Foods locations in Rochester Hills, Troy and West Bloomfield.
Set for 4-8 p.m., the event will feature tips for preparing holiday meals, as well as the opportunity to sample items from the stores’ holiday catering menu. Expert wine pairings will be noted and available for sample.
Forgotten Harvest staff and volunteers will be present at each store, armed with shopping lists of the perishable items most sought by metro Detroiters in need. The event’s $10 entry fee is waived if guests purchase and donate items from the list.

Participating metro Whole Foods locations:
Rochester Hills - 2918 Walton Blvd.
Troy - 2880 W. Maple Rd
West Bloomfield - 7350 Orchard Lake Rd
Forgotten Harvest was formed in 1990 to fight two problems: hunger and waste. Forgotten Harvest “rescued” more than 12.5 million pounds of food last year by collecting surplus prepared and perishable food from more than 400 sources, including grocery stores, fruit and vegetable markets, restaurants, caterers, dairies, farmers, wholesale food distributors and other Health Department-approved sources. This donated food, which would otherwise go to waste, is delivered free-of-charge to 155 emergency food providers in the metro Detroit area. The individuals and families served are as diverse as the community’s residents – young and old, from all races and faiths. The common bond uniting them with each other and with Forgotten Harvest is Hunger. Learn more about Forgotten Harvest and how to help drive hunger from our community at www.forgottenharvest.org.
