When it comes to good Italian restaurants, few can beat Arancino di Mare. Located in the Waikiki Marriott Hotel, this eatery offers a winning combination of authentic Italian cuisine, incredible service and terrific ambiance.

Let’s start with the location. With both indoor and outdoor dining areas, Arancino di Mare takes full advantage of its prime Waikiki surroundings. Sitting at a table outdoors means enjoying all the charm of a dinner al fresco. Cozy tables offer views of the beach as the world strolls by. Gentle trade winds blow as diners enjoy their meals and drinks in a setting that is European in inspiration, yet quintessentially Hawaiian.

Now for the service. From the moment you enter, the staff at Arancio di Mare makes every guest feel like a VIP. Warm smiles accompany service that is efficient and caring, yet unobtrusive. Your server will offer to explain in detail each and every dish and will offer suggestions based upon your individual likes and dislikes. The staff here rises to a level of professionalism that is seldom found in touristy area such as Waikiki.

While ambiance and service are important, it is ultimately the food that distinguishes any restaurant. Anarcino di Mare takes Italian cuisine to new heights by combining traditional dishes with the freshest island ingredients. There are many favorites and some innovative twists, but it is all prepared to order in the finest Italian tradition.

For starters, there are favorites such as beef carpaccio, bruschetta pomidoro, caprese salad and eggplant parmigiana. But there is also smoked duck breast with fresh orange sauce, delicate scallop sashimi with local sea asparagus, chilled Maine lobster with papaya and fresh herbs, and fresh Hawaiian marlin carpaccio, just to name a few.

Pasta dishes abound, with the emphasis on seafood. The Spaghetti all Pescatora features a medley of shrimp and calamari, clams and mussels topped with shrimp scampi in a garlic, wine and olive oil sauce. The Spaghetti ai Ricci di Mare is made with fresh sea urchin in a sweet garlic wine cream sauce. The Spaghetti al Nero di Seppie is an unusual dish made with squid ink in a garlic sauce. In addition to the seafood pastas, diners can select gnocchi with pesto sauce, Penne all’arrabiatta with a spicy tomato sauce or Penne Gorgonzola with a creamy cheese sauce.

Pizza lovers can indulge their craving with a choice of toppings served on a thin crust individual-size pie. Toppings include smoked duck breast, shrimp onions and garlic chips, asparagus, tomato and Gorgonzola, prosciutto and arugula or seafood. There are also more traditional selections such as pepperoni and sausage and Pizza Margherita with tomatoes, mozzarella and fresh basil.

Meat dishes featured are lamb chops served with asparagus, bell pepper and roasted potatoes, rib-eye steak sliced and served on a bed of fresh arugula and favorites like osso bucco and chicken Saltimbocca.

Desserts tend to be on the light side, with the exceptions of the home made tiramisu and the Vivace, which consists of vanilla ice cream and marscapone cheese drizzled with Bailey’s liqueur and cinnamon.

There is an extensive, if pricy, wine list as well as cocktails and Italian mineral waters.

With excellence service, great food and charming ambiance, Arancino di Mare is a great choice for gourmet Italian cuisine in Waikiki
