Does this look like a happy, safe dog to you? Boarding your pet can be anxiety-producing and a little disconcerting, particularly if you are concerned for your pet's health and well being. As I noted previously - http://www.examiner.com/x-941-LA-Pets-Examiner~y2009m7d6-Board-your-dog-in-style-D-Pet-Hotels, D Pet Hotel really is a great option for boarding and my dog Angel, as seen in the photo, is proof that great boarding DOES exist in Los Angeles.
When boarding your pet, there are a few things you should look for. First, make sure the boarding facility requires updated vaccination records. If they don't, you cannot be assured the other pets have had their bordatella, rabies, and DHPP vaccinations and your pet runs a risk of illness. Quality boarding facilities will require proof of vaccinations and will make sure they are up to date.
Select a boarding facility you, the pet parent, feels comfortable with. Is the staff friendly? Are they willing to accommodate your pet's eating schedule and any special requests like medication or other special needs? Or do you feel uncomfortable with the place, either in the cleanliness or in other ways? Trust your instincts! If you are at all hesitant with the facility, don't leave your dog there.
Additionally, ask for a tour of the facility. Check out the sleeping areas, and see if the place seems clean. Check out the other dogs, too - do they seem happy? are they having fun? is staff attending to them? These are all important things to notice when selecting a facility for your pet.
D Pet Hotels, by far the nicest and cleanest boarding facility I've ever seen (cleaner than my home, in fact), features comfortable accommodations and a spacious play area. The dogs all played happily, and the staff was attentive to the dogs and made sure my dog wasn't overly nervous when entering the facility. One of the best things about this place is the sheer patience the staff has when dealing with pet parents! Alissa was kind enough to send me pictures of Angel throughout my vacation and updated me on her eating and sleeping habits. For me, there's no price tag you can put on that type of patience and kindness, and outright understanding of a pet parent's worry.
I recommend you check this place out, whether to board your pet overnight or simply for a hours. Located at 1041 Highland Avenue, it's centrally located to the greater Los Angeles area.
