Beverly Hills Chihuahuas and other dog breeds had their day in the sun on Sunday when the City of Beverly Hills held its inaugural "Woofstock 90210" at Roxbury Park.
"Woofstock 90210 ", billed as a day to adopt a pet, make new friends, and enjoy a pet parade and contest, was a huge success. Producers from the Dog Whisperer were on hand to scout dogs for the series (and believe me, despite the number of well behaved dogs in attendance, the Dog Whisperer's services were definitely needed for an unruly few four leggeds and their owners).

"Woofstock 90210" was emceed by Jack Riley, known to youngsters as the voice of Stu Pickles on the Nickelodeon cartoon series "Rugrats," but to those middle age and older as the irascible patient Elliot Carlin on the classic 1972-78 CBS comedy "The Bob Newhart Show."
Entertainment was provided by Muttley Crew high jumping disc dogs and fast-running agility dogs. More than 150 animals, both cats and dogs, were available for adoption.
This was a great event, though I felt very poorly publicized. I hope the City of Beverly Hills will make this an annual event, but they need to do a much better job of publicizing it so dog lovers from all over the City of Los Angeles can attend!
