Greetings from the land of holiday shopping! Angel is finally recovering from her tummy ailment after some expensive vet care and a lot of love and attention. Big thank yous and hugs to all of you who inquired about her wellbeing. I really appreciate the kind words and thoughts. I think this experience of Angel being sick has really shown me how much I love my dog. I always knew I loved her, but maybe you never really know how much you'll do for your pet until they are sick. They look at you with those big sad eyes, and all you want to do is fix what ails them whatever the cost. You forget about needing sleep and your brand new carpet and all the other silliness of life when your pet is sick. It's a whole new side of love.
In other news, Angel's birthday was December 1st but since she was sick and couldn't truly enjoy her birthday, I think we are going to postpone the birthday party festivities until Friday. Also, this will be helpful in case she ends up with a lampshade on her head. She won't need to wake up for work the next day.
But, the holidays are coming, and if you're like me, you may want to buy your dog a little something for the holiday season. There are many terrific stores which offer doggie sweaters and outfits, so if you have a favorite, please share! The sweater Angel is modeling in the picture (which just so happens to have her name on the back) is from Petco. I'll admit, I generally prefer to shop the smaller mom and pop stores for my novelty pet items like this, but sometimes, I just can't help myself.
Surprisingly, both Ross and Target have some really cute pet outfits for great prices. I almost (but was dragged away pouting) bought a cheerleader outfit for Angel at Target that was totally adorable. Ross had a cute leather jacket. Seriously, the variety of dog clothing is amazing.
If you're doing the whole cyber shopping thing, you may want to check out D.O.G. Pet Boutique, which has some amazing pet clothes and collars. Very high end, but very fancy and fun, and it definitely stirs the imagination. Another great one is Bark Avenue, which offers not only online shopping fun but also stores located throughout the country (none of which are in Los Angeles, and none of which are affiliated with one another).
I never thought I'd be one of those people who dressed up a dog. A dog! But now she's got a better selection of sweaters than I do! If YOU have a favorite place to shop for your dog, please let me know.
Also, Angel's picture which is attached to this article is in the running for Pet Photo of the Week - and I think it would really help her spirits, during her birthday, for her to win the poll for favorite picture, don't you think? So, please vote for her at http://www.examiner.com/x-1722-Pet-Photo-Examiner~y2008m12d1-Pet-photos-of-the-week-Angel. And yes, that was a shameless plug!
