D’Cache Restaurant not just a place to eat but it is an exotic romantic experience. The food, live music and décor fuse to make this Latin fusion cuisine spot one of the best dining experiences in LA. Located on 10717 Riverside Dr., don’t let the big sign and the inconspicuous entry way fool you. Once entering the walkway to the 1928 Spanish Mission style building, things start to change as you see the beautiful water fountain. When entering through the doors you are transported to a romantic and elegant European spot.   Goodbye to Toluca Lake.
 
 
Many elements comprise the excellence of D’Cache but let’s start with food.  What is Latin Fusion Cuisine? At D’Cache it is a fusion of different South American and Spanish influence meeting French and Mediterranean.  
 
As for service, it is impeccable in relation to attentiveness, courtesy, and knowledge by multiple members of the waitstaff. Our server, Maura was friendly, quick and attentive to our needs.
 
My partners in dining on multiple courses and drink were Leo Cortez and Lindsey Rowe on a Thursday evening. Lindsey suggests the spot having been impressed with appetizers on previous visits. She and I have Sangria, a family secret of the owners of the family owned establishment. Leo opts for the Mojito. All the beverages are delicious. For appetizers, we share a sampling of the Cuban Baby Back Ribs,  Columbian Yucca croquettes, and empanadas. Each appetizer provides a taste of different regions of the world. The baby back ribs with onion rings are dressed with a pasilla honey BBQ sauce. By far the yucca, croquettes with ementhal cheese and Marscapone cilantro sauce is the star of the evening. If you have never had yucca it is similar in taste to potato. This is delightful must have. Lastly, empandas are classic in many South American countries. You will find it listed on the menu as a turnover. Chef Jesus. Bonilla’s take on the empanada is stuffed with slow roasted pork and ham, ementhal swiss cheese, and drizzled with mango passion-fruit salsa.
 
 
Don’t come to D’Cache with impatience because the food is prepared slowly and masterfully. After finishing the first course, it is a good time sit back and listen to the live music. We enjoyed it thoroughly and the guitar/singer garnered several rounds of applause.
 
For the main course, we have cilantro crusted Yellow Fin Tuna, Brazillian style lamb chops, and nori crusted fillet with buttons mushrooms and a spicy mustard sauce. The order of the dishes should be as good, better and best. Each dish complimented with delicious sides. In my side to lamb chops were risotto and grilled asparagus with squash to boot. When you order the Brazilian lamb chops, the chef will bring out the steaming and sizzling lamb and dress it in pistachio pesto marinade then cut the chops. As for the filet, the amazing mustard sauce led me to ask the Honduras born chef about his favorite spices to use in cooking. Coming from a family of diplomats and having traveled the world, Chef Bonilla shares that his favorite spices are the classic salt and pepper. He also expresses a desire not hide the true flavor of the food. 
 
We were privy two more courses including a new catracho style fondue after the main course. It is a common dish in Honduras the only thing that is changed is that in Honduras they use fried beans, chorizo or an artisanal cheese.
 Afterward we split two desserts. My counterparts devoured the Spanish style Crème Brule. They found it to be the better of the two desserts. In contrast, I found the crepes with fruit and a dollop of vanilla ice cream edged out the Brule by emitting a compilation of joyous singing flavors in my mouth.   The crepe dessert is a family recipe. 
 
D’Cache is owned by the husband and wife team of Jairo and Patty Gamba. Patty shared with me that she wanted create an environment that was classy yet you can laugh out loud with your girlfriends without disturbing the next table.  Romance and fun are two strong elements to D’Cache, the décor is impressive in every section including the outdoor dining area, lounge area and there is a tent in the back. Events such as Salsa dancing, classic rock night and 80”s night happen once a month.
