In a previous post, I mentioned how I got lost trying to get to GW's Lisner Auditorium. I went to the school's Jack Morton Aud by mistake and saw that there was a flamenco performance, scheduled in part to honor National Hispanic Heritage Month.
If you heard something about National Hispanic Heritage Month last month, then you may be confused. No need for confusion. This month to honor Hispanic Americans encompasses September and October because it goes from September 15 to October 15.
Dates in the second half of September mark the independence days of several Latin American countries and Columbus Day/Día de la Raza is on October 12.
This means you still have time to check out some great performances and exhibits set up just for this time of year, including:
How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents
See this theatrical adaptation of the acclaimed Julia Alvarez book at the Roundhouse Theatre.

The Aging of the Plum
Look at time and aging through the memories of two sisters. This play is performed in Spanish with English surtitles at the Gala Hispanic Theater.
