On June 22, 2009 the Arizona Senate passed HCR2014: “The Healthcare Freedom Act.” In November of 2010, voters will have an opportunity to prevent Arizonans from being compelled to join a government-run health care system.
According to Arizonans for Healthcare Freedom, led by Dr. Eric Novack, “The cornerstone of health care reform must be the protection and preservation of the rights of people to make their own health care choices.” In their eyes, HCR2014 says,
Health care reform, yes, but protect freedom first!”
In 2008, Proposition 101: “Freedom of Choice in Health Care Act,” was barely defeated in Arizona, 1,057,199 to 1,048,512. Round two looks more promising.
Perhaps we should use the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 as a federal competency benchmark. Voters in Arizona should have no trouble recognizing that our political system is incapable of solving complex issues of any magnitude. The fact is government cannot solve our health care crisis because government intervention in the market caused the problem in the first place.
Please note that one of the unintended consequences of a federal health care solution could be democide (death by government). Health care rationing leads to life or death decisions that government officials, at any level, should not make.
Should Barack Obama and his minions decide who gets to live?
