As you can imagine, black squirrels are extremely rare; one estimate claims that for every 10,000 squirrels, just one will be black. With a scant population on Long Island, these critters are typically found in larger numbers near Washington, D.C.

One of these unique animals can often be found in the backyard of my father's North Shore Long Island Estate. Over the past few months, this playful black squirrel has been frolicking with the other (more typical) gray squirrels, often to the amusement of onlookers.

It is interesting to note that these creatures obviously have no squabbles related to diversity; in their ecosystem, all squirrels are created equal. While most humans would consider them as subordinate beings, I'm apt to speculate that such a persuasion is rather flawed.

Indeed, mankind would be far better if people simply observed the superior truths of nature, and applied such traditions within their own habitats. This is particularly true for those that reside in areas where black squirrels are often found. As it has already been established that God works in mysterious ways, these same folks should heed my suggestions.
