I posted a report yesterday on the 2009 Rondy Grand Prix. Given that the race had not been held for a while, and the fact that the Rondy Grand Prix is a unique racing event for anywhere, I was anxious to see what the Anchorage Daily News had to say about the event.
After spending quite a bit of time on their website and performing searches, it became apparant that they had nothing to say. The advertising sections for the Fur Rondy included announcements of dates and times - just like every other Fur Rondy event.
The curiosity is getting to me. Why would they ignore this? Do I have a warped sense of newsworthiness? Did they print a small blurb but not put it on their site? I just don't know.
I have a theory. Just a theory mind you, but here goes: I think it may have to do with their (no secret) liberal slant. Is there a bias against these loud, pollution generating globnal warming contributors? Is it seen as a useless waste of valuable resources?
It's hard to know what the real story is, because the silence is deafening.
