How's that for sharing a celebration?  The State of Alaska turned 50 in early 2009 and the Alaska Railroad wants you to celebrate with them.

If you've been putting off a rail adventure for some reason, now is the time to take advantage and take a trip on the Alaska Railroad.

It doesn't matter if you head north or south from Anchorage.  Either way you are going to be treated to some of the most spectacular scenery the state has to offer.  And you'll see it in comfort, far from the maddening traffic.

The only real caveat to this deal is that the travel you do in one day is free.  But hey, use this to your advantage and if your travel plans are longer than one day use this day as a deep discount!

For more info: Come check out all of the details at The Alaska Railroad's  Alaska's 50th Birthday   page.
