For a lot of folks around the country something like airport weather cams are primarily of trivial interest. For Alaskans that depend on local air travel these weather cams can be a true lifeline and lifesaver.
In a land where the truest saying is, "If you don't like the weather in Alaska, wait 10 minutes" these real time shots of air fields in selected communities are a real necessity.
It doesn't matter if you are a pilot or a passenger, really. Sure, pilots are going to get their weather reports (usually in a text format) but nothing says go/no go like being able to have a look at the actual conditions.
If you are planning a trip in the near future, take the time to go over to the FAA web cams link on the right side of this page and have a look at your departing and destination air fields to get a sense for what your day is going to be like.
