A new twist on the Apologetix
This fun and lively home-made video recently posted on Tangle.com has been viewed tens of thousands of times and is making the email rounds. Upon receiving it in my email box just a few days ago as a forward from my Pastor I felt compelled to share it.
Many of us know by heart the original lyrics that normally accompany this catchy tune. The song was originally recorded as “Barbara Anne” in 1961 by the Regents and reached the number 13 spot on Billboard’s top 100. In 1965 the Beach Boys recorded it as a single and shot it all the way up to number 2 on the U.S. charts and number 3 in the UK. You can also find the original Beach Boys recording on the album titled, “Beach Boys Party”. While many have since re-recorded “Barbara Anne”, parodied it and made fun of it altogether, I do believe that the recording you’ll hear in this video by the Apologetix is the most complimentary to the popular recording made famous by the Beach Boys. The Apologetix are a well-known Christian band that parodies current and past pop, rock and rap songs. The quality with which they sing and redesign lyrics to make a Christian point and to defend their faith and beliefs is truly the height of talent. Due to the fun lyrics and rockin’ classics recorded, the Apologetix are becoming more and more popular. You can find a list of their music, radio stations that are playing their tunes and information about upcoming concerts on their site at Apologetix.com For my own personal tastes, I believe I like this version of the classic catchy tune just as much, if not more than the original. So, turn your speakers up and gather the kids around. Enjoy!
