CARSON - For Alecko Eskandarian, the remainder of the season will be a little different. Sure, he's still a forward and he will still ply his trade at the Home Depot Center. However when he heads down to the locker rooms, he will now follow the sign that says, "this way to Galaxy Locker rooms". As of this morning, Alecko Eskandarian, who played with the Goats as recently as Superliga, has joined the Los Angeles Galaxy.
"You're never sure where you'll end up," he said on the teams website. "You could go someplace you like or someplace you don't, and I'm very happy with the way things turned out."
A two-time MLS All Star, and 2004 MLS Cup MVP, Eskandarian came to Carson in January of 2008 after bouncing around the league in 2007 with Toronto FC and Real Salt Lake. In his very first match with the Goats, he scored the exclamation point in 3-1 victory over Real Salt Lake. However, injuries sidelined him from then on till the end of that summer. By the end of the season though, he managed to score 5 goals, including two against his previous teams.
"It could be a good trade for us," Berhalter said. "He has exactly what we've been looking for."
In return for "Esky", the Goats receive an undisclosed amount of allocation money, and a 2010 Superdraft pick. With the trade, Eskandarian can make his Galaxy debut this Saturday as they take on the New England Revolution.
