Former Stanford star Nicole Powell had a rare off night offensively on Thursday, and her team, the Sacramento Monarchs, lost to the Seattle Storm 66-55 in a WNBA game in Seattle.
Powell had been averaging better than 15 points a game, but on Thursday, she was limited to five points, all in the first half. She did a good job on the boards, collecting eight rebounds, but she was just 2-for-9 from the field.
Powell's first basket, a three-pointer, pulled the Monarchs to within four points at 19-15 with 9:26 left in the second quarter. But the Storm then scored 12 straight points to take control.
The loss dropped Sacramento to 3-9.
