The Sacramento Monarchs tried to mount a fourth-quarter comeback against the Detroit Shock on Sunday, but it fell short in an 86-72 WNBA loss to the Shock at the Palace at Auburn Hills.
Former Stanford star Nicole Powell started the game well, but she went scoreless in the second half. She finished with 11 points on 3-for-12 shooting after scoring two points on 1-for-7 shooting in Friday's loss.
The Monarchs lost their fifth straight and fell to 1-7, but did make a late comeback bid. Detroit led by 20 points with three minutes left in the third quarter, but the Monarchs cut the deficit to six points with 7:24 remaining in the game before the Shock pulled away again.
