Johnny Dawkins has had great recruiting success this summer, landing what is being called the best class of 2010 freshmen in the Pac-10. But the Cardinal fell short in the recruitment of one of its targets.
Jason Morris, a 6-4 guard out of Georgia who is attending the Hotchkiss School in Connecticut, had Stanford as one his three finalists, but this week he gave a verbal commitment to Georgia Tech, according to scout.com.
According to the report, Stanford did not even come in second, as Morris' choice ultimiately came down to Georgia Tech or Clemson.
Morris is rated the No. 78 senior prospect in the national by scout.com and No. 84 by rivals.com.
Stanford had beaten out Georgia Tech for highly touted prospect Dwight Powell, who had listed Stanfprd, Georgia Tech and Harvard as his three finalists.
Stanford's recruiting class is still ranked No. 9 nationally by rivals.com and No. 13 by scout.com.
The Cardinal ranking in the Pac-10 could change now that UCLA has landed a verbal commitment from Josh Smith.
