Enrollment at journalism schools across the country was up 2 percent in 2007 despite the fact that the newspaper industry is expected to shed close to 4,000 jobs this year, according to an article that appeared in Minneapolis/St. Paul magazine.
The story, which was written by journalist William Souder, also says that journalism students are optimistic about the future of journalism.
Souder writes that many students believe that even if newspapers were to die, they could still find outlets to tell accurate news stories on the Internet.
