The streets of downtown Washington were filled with excitement yesterday as Barack Obama was inaugurated as the nation's first African American president.

From T-shirt peddlers to party goers, the city's streets had an energy that is too often absent from the District.

Below are two videos I took of the scene just a few blocks north of the National Mall.
