Former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic is running for public office.
Krist Novoselic statement announcing his candidacy reads "I am running for public office in Wahkiakum county. On the ballot I will state that I Prefer Grange Party. Voters might not be aware that the Grange is a non-partisan organization that DOES NOT offer candidates for public office. And the Grange may spend time and money to try and make this clear through media communications. However, under state law in Washington, the Grange cannot rebut my party preference on the public ballot – the only place a voter is guaranteed to see my claim."
If you think of Novoselic as just some older grunge rocker you are wrong. He is highly intelligent and articulate. He seems like he want to make a difference in Wahkiakum County not just make more of a name for himself. He writes a column in the Seattle Weekly. If Arnold Swarchenegger can become a Governor, Krist Novoselic can surely handle being the County Clerk of Wahkiakum County.
Krist Novoselic wrote a book titled "Of Grunge & Government: Let's Fix This Broken Democracy!". The book is available for sale on Amazon.com here.
