SEMINOLES TOTAL OFFENSE

Florida State enters Saturday’s game at Clemson averaging an ACC leading 443.6 yards of total offense per game (307.1 yards passing
and 136.5 yards rushing). Not only is junior All-ACC candidate Christian Ponder the ACC leader in total offense (327.4 yards per game) but he is the leader of the ACC’s top offense. The Ponder-led offense of 2009 is gaining more yards per game than Florida State’s 1999 National Championship team that fi nished with a perfect 12-0 record. The Seminoles’ 2009 offense is the fourth most prolific in terms of total offense since the 1995 season.

SEMINOLES SECOND HALF SCORING OUTBURST

In Saturday’s homecoming victory over N.C. State, Florida State’s offense unleashed a 24-point, second half scoring burst. It was the fourth time this season the ‘Noles have scored 24 points after intermission. FSU has outscored it opponents in the second half six times in eight games.

‘NOLES PILING UP YARDAGE

Florida State has gained at least 400 yards of total offense in seven of eight games and surpassed the 500-yard mark for the third time this
season against N.C. State. FSU’s other 500-yard games came against then No. 7 Brigham Young (512) and against No. 22 Georgia Tech
(539).

FSU RUSHES FOR FIVE TDS

With two touchdowns each by sophomore running back Jermaine Thomas and true freshman running back Chris Thompson, the Seminoles
scored a season-high fi ve rushing touchdowns in their victory over NC State. Wide receiver Bert Reed’s game-winning, three yard TD run with 1:36 to play was the game-winner. Florida State’s five rushing touchdowns against the Wolfpack were the most scores rushing by the Seminoles since also earning fi ve rushing touchdowns in their 69-0 victory over Western Carolina on Sept. 6, 2008.

NOTING FLORIDA STATE’S OFFENSIVE LINE

Florida State’s offensive line helped the Seminoles’ offense to a season- high 555 yards of total offense, 278 yards passing, 277 yards rushing, fi ve rushing touchdowns and six total touchdowns. Maybe most importantly, the offensive line did not allow a sack or a quarterback hurry in the victory over NC State. It marked the second time this season the Seminoles’ offensive line had not allowed a quarterback
sack (also in the Seminoles’ victory over Brigham Young.)
