After 20 years of fits and starts, with directors ranging from Terry Gilliam to Paul Greengrass, the seminal graphic novel Watchmen is finally coming to the big screen on March 6. A lot of people said it could never be done, but Zach Snyder, fresh off the box-office bonanza of "300," made a lot of geekboys' (and girls, but let's face it, mostly boys) dreams come true.

So now what will fill the spot of the comic book movie that's impossible to make? Not one that's just a terrible, terrible idea -- Brother Power, the Geek! The Musical! -- but one that's beloved of the geek contingent, and yet does not have a chance of turning that street cred into actual screen time.

Well, let's take a look at the top contenders...

Now that "Watchmen" has made it to the screens, geeks need a new impossible dream. Some people have been pining to see these comics in the theaters for a long time, and they'll probably be pining for a lot longer.
