What with all the economic uncertainty, you might be leery of spending your dough on fripperies like comics. But think of it this way: if Congress can come up with $700 billion for Wall Street, surely you can scrape together money for a few funny books.
On the shelves this week:
Batman #680 -- Part five of "Batman RIP." They promise, by the end of this, Bruce Wayne will no longer be Batman. So far, he's been stabbed, drugged, kidnapped, beaten and left for dead. But hey, he's Batman.
Dark Tower: The Long Road Home -- Marvel Comics' hardcover adaptation of the early life of Stephen King's Gunslinger character from the epic series of books.
Roy Rogers Comics Archives -- A hardbound edition of the four-color adventures of America's straightest-shooting Western hero. With Batman, you know, dying, and various other heroes going all grim and gritty, this might make for a refreshing change of pace.
Tara McPherson's Somewhere Under The Rainbow Coloring Kit -- Hipster artist Tara McPherson teams with Dark Horse to provide kids with cool crayons and materials so they can make their own (somewhat disturbing) designs.
