Sunday marked the Denver 16th annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. More than 62,000 people turned the city pink for the event.
Women, men, children and dogs walked or ran 5k (about 3.1 miles) or 1 mile on the family course. The race raised more than $2.4 million dollars, with more donations still rolling in.

Race for the Cure is known to bring out the costumes and themes. Participants dress up in their favorite pink gear. Those racing as a team typically come up with some clever team names. My peronal favorite team name this year: Save Second Base. Runners and walkers tend to have a great sense of humor, while keeping the mission for a cure in sight.
Missed the event but still want to participate in a Susan G. Komen fundraiser? There's plenty of other local opportunities like the Pink Tie Event and Komen Day at the Denver Zoo.
