Obama-care and ABC News: left-wing infomercial or is Fox News just griping for ratings?

Fox News is enjoying this. I mean, they're really, really enjoying this.

The “Fair and Balanced” Network has repeatedly called ABC's upcoming healthcare town hall special airing from the White House on June 24th an “infomercial,” or a “Mickey-Mouse sponsored infomercial” as Sean Hannity likes to call it (clearly a jab at Disney-owned ABC, as opposed to the “independently run” Fox News Channel). But what Fox isn't telling you is the utter hypocrisy oozing from their jealous, jealous pores.

So, in the interest of “fair and balanced,” here are the Big Three hypocrisies spewing from the mouths of Fox anchors, commentators, clowns and dingleberries:

- During the Longest Eight Years in the History of America, a.k.a. The George W. Bush administration, Fox News was rewarded with “unprecedented access” to the White House. This included multiple “exclusive” interviews with then-President Bush by Your World host Neil Cavuto. In addition, Fox News aired “specials” highlighting key Bush administration officials. “Why He Fights,” about former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld aired on September 30, 2006, which promised to “examine why President Bush stands behind him and what drives the 73-year-old Rumsfeld to soldier on.” Hard-hitting stuff! On October 13, 2007, Fox aired “Dick Cheney: No Retreat.” It offered “a rare glimpse into the life of the vice-president.” And on February 2 and 3, 2008, we were treated to the nail-biting documentary “George W. Bush, Fighting to the Finish.” This one really needs no elaboration.

- Fox gripes that ABC is refusing to air a paid TV ad of an opposing conservative view on healthcare. Yet, on two separate occasions, Fox News refused a similar request on their network. They previously refused to air an ad produced by the Center for Constitutional Rights. And in 2005 Fox refused to air an ad critical of then-Bush nominated Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito.

- And finally, since a former ABC News correspondent now works for the Obama administration, Fox News is crying foul about a “conflict of interest.” Yet, this is getting monotonous, Tony Snow left Fox News to become President Bush's press secretary.

So, as an American citizen with a keen interest in healthcare reform, I will surely watch “Questions for the President: Prescription for America” on June 24th.

And you know what? If it is just a glorified infomercial as Fox News demands, then I'll be aware of it and treat it as such. Because, and this may dismay many Americans, I'm an adult, with an adult brain, and I can come to my own conclusions.

Whether Donkey or Elephant, the manure still stinks, and I'm perfectly capable of smelling it all.
