You've almost gotten through 2008. You didn't do so hot on your weight loss goals. You're still battling that same 10 pounds that keeps making fun of you on the scale. Maybe you're thinking... a new year, a new resolution... THIS will be the year that I lose weight and get healthy. Why wait? Start a health contract with yourself today- it's easier to define your goals when you see them in print. And when you add your signature, well, now you HAVE to take yourself seriously!
Use something like this:
2009 Health Contract
I, ________________________________, promise the following goals to myself in the year 2009 to acheive optimal health and wellness.
1. I will find a plan and stick to the plan. I am in control of what goes into my body, not someone else. I will avoid situations that cause me to be tempted to revert to old habits.
2. I will avoid things that are harmful to my body and mind, including sugar, processed food, missing sleep and stress whenever possible. I will avoid giving myself permission to indulge in junk food on special occaisons.
3. I will exercise every day for 30 minutes at a minimum. I will avoid procrastination and making excuses to myself about why I can't on a certain day. It will be a part of my every day life on purpose. No one will make me but me.
4. I will stop paying attention to my scale as long as I am following a healthful lifestyle. I will not set a date for my weight goals.
5. I will drink water at every opportunity instead of soft drinks
6. I will find a few minutes every day to relax, read or pray to contribute to the balance in my life. I understand the connection between my mind and body.
7. I will volunteer and do things for others often. I will seek out opportunties to help and encourage others.
8. I will not berate myself for mistakes. I will start again the minute after a mistake, not wait until tomorrow. This is lifestyle, not a temporary commitment.
Good luck, and let 2009 be your healthiest year yet!
