Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

8.5 out of 10

Movie Review by “Rhyming Reviewer” Tom Clocker

So they made a sixth movie about Harry Potter,
The kids are getting older, but not really much hotter,
Was the movie that great, don’t search for a sign,
Here is The Good, The Bad and The Bottom Line:

There was plenty of Good, fans should be quite happy,
Even if some of the “love scenes” got a bit sappy,
There was magic and potions and all of those things,
And thankfully it was shorter than The Lord of the Rings,
The acting was terrific, Alan Rickman was the best,
But close behind was Jim Broadbent and all of the rest,
The special effects were seamless and clean,
And the transitions were great from scene to scene,
The screenplay was good, the film has a great look,
True fans will know there’s a lot more in the book,
All in all, the film is great, one that everyone should see,
But there is more to know, just read paragraph three,

The film is not perfect, but do not be sad,
There’s not much to say, but here is The Bad,
The movie is clearly a set up for films 7 and 8,
It probably has the least action of any “Potter” to date,
If you don’t know the story to now you will not understand,
The one who will truly enjoy it is the diehard Potter fan,
Voldemort’s story gets a little more completed,
Harry learns of his past and how he can be defeated,
But that’s all we see of this very bad guy,
And lack of a true villain makes this film a little dry,
At two and a half hours, “Half-Blood Prince” is a tad long,
But it is paced quite well and ends very strong.

We got The Good, The Bad and that’s all very fine,
But to sum it all up, here is The Bottom Line,
In the theaters is where you should see this latest tale,
When it comes to being entertained this movie does not fail,
But don’t forget about IMAX, it has extra things,
Including 3D footage and some extended scenes,
But IMAX doesn’t hit until July twenty-nine,
If you can’t wait that long, this version is fine,
Take your spouse, kids, siblings and friend,
You will have a smile on your face from beginning to end.
