At the number 10 spot on the “total box office revenue” list is Nicole Kidman. Nicole Mary Kidman was born on June 20, 1967 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Kidman was born with dual citizenship because her parents are Australian. She spent a few years after her birth in Washington D.C. but then moved backed to Australia in 1970. She now has two daughters and a son. Her oldest daughter and son were both adopted during her marriage to Tom Cruise. Her younger daughter, born in 2006, is with her current husband, country star Keith Urban.
Nicole’s acting career started at a young age while living in Australia. Taking dance lessons from the age of three, she had her first acting role, playing a sheep, at age four. Her first film part was in 1983 in the movie BMX Bandits. Throughout the 1980s Kidman had several successful roles in Australian-made movies and television series. Her breakout performance came in 1989 when she starred with Sam Neill in Dead Calm. The following year, however, is when Kidman’s name got on the map. She starred in her first U.S. film, Days of Thunder, with Tom Cruise. This is where they met and would marry later that year on December 24, 1990. Needless to say, marrying Tom Cruise and getting your face plastered everywhere certain doesn’t hurt a young actress’s career. It may very well be true that Kidman began landing parts she otherwise wouldn’t have due to her marriage to Cruise; but she has since proven herself as one of the elite female actors, showing incredible range from comedy, to drama, to musicals. Few actresses can claim to be as well diversified in their roles as Nicole Kidman and this is certainly a key reason she is on this list.
