At the number 2 spot on the “total box office revenue” list is Cameron Diaz. Cameron Michelle Diaz was born on August 30, 1972 in San Diego, California. She has no children but has dated both Justin Timberlake and Matt Damon in the past.
Cameron began her professional career in modeling at age 16 when she signed with Elite Modeling Agency. After several years modeling, Diaz had her breakout role in her very first feature film in 1994’s The Mask co-starring with Jim Carrey. A few years later she put out another hit when co-starring with Julia Roberts in My Best Friend’s Wedding. Diaz then had a string of several successful films including There’s Something About Mary, Any Given Sunday, Charlie’s Angels, and Vanilla Sky. Her huge blockbusters started in 2001 and came by way of the animated Shrek trilogy. These three films combined for $1.02 billion! Shrek 4 (working title) is pegged for 2010 and I’m guessing we’ll “see” Cameron back for this one. Despite the fact that three animated films account for over 46% over her career box office revenue, Cameron Diaz is a gifted actress with a great range. Actors never know ahead of time which films will make or break their career. Even though the Shrek films account for almost half of her career earnings, Cameron Diaz has done such great work in her career, there is no doubt she will be remembered for the whole body of her work.
