Samuel L. Jackson

At the number 9 spot on the “total box office revenue” list is Samuel L. Jackson. Samuel was born in Washington D.C. on December 21, 1948. He received a B.A. in drama from Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA in 1972. That same year brought Jackson his first feature role in Together for Days (credited as Sam Jackson). He also has a daughter, Zoe Jackson, born in 1982.

Samuel L. Jackson has been in many films, and I like to dub him, “The Man who will take any role.” This also means that he has the lowest per film average of anyone on this top ten list. Jackson seems to live by the mantra “quantity, not quality.” That being said, his roles have ranged from huge blockbusters that are in the Top 100 all-time domestic grossing box office films right down to the “I better take another role quickly so fans will forget about this one” flops. For example: Jurrassic Park and XXX: State of the Union. Some may call that eclectic. I call that “The Man who will take any role.”

# 9 Samuel L. Jackson

Total box office revenue of his films: $2.38 billion

Total number of films*: 52

Average per film box office revenue: $45.8 million

Biggest box office smash: Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith - $380.3 million

Return to Top 10 list.

* This does not count cameos, small voice work, or movies that omitted gross earnings
