Many readers may remember the demise of Concorde Service between JFK (New York) and CDG (Paris). We endured cramped seating and a single row aircraft for the luxury of time savings.
The new Airbus A380, (while no replacement for speed, is the world's largest and quietest aircraft) will begin service between Paris and New York City in November 2009.
To celebrate the new service, Air France is auctioning 380 seats on the two inaugural flights of the A380 between Paris and New York on November 20th, 2009 and from New York to Paris on November 21st, 2009. The first general commercial service for the flights between JFK and CDG will begin on November 23rd, 2009.
The auction will fund three humanitarian projects supported by the Air France Foundation for children in need including:
• France (Marseille): Association Arts et Développement, street art workshops in city neighborhoods;
• South Africa (Johannesburg / Soweto, Alexandra and Witbank): François-Xavier Bagnoud Association, an after-school program dedicated to orphans affected by AIDS;
• India (New Delhi): Association Plan France, project aimed at improving living conditions for child workers.
