Attention, New York Mets fans: If you jump on the New Jersey Devils' bandwagon right now, it can spare you watching at least the first two games of the World Series.
The Devils play games "against" the Mets' rivals, the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies, Wednesday versus the Buffalo Sabres and Thursday at the Boston Bruins. Unfortunately for Mets fans who are members of Devils Legion, Saturday's game at the Tampa Bay Lightning is a 3 p.m. affair, while the World Series is played later that night at 7:57.
Wednesday's New Jersey-Buffalo game begins at 7 p.m. EDT and is on MSG Plus2. The Devils-Boston game also has a 7 p.m. faceoff and will be televised by MSG Plus. The first two games of the World Series are on Fox, with first pitch set for 7:57.
Should the World Series stretch to a potentially clinching sixth game, Mets backers seeking to avert watching the Yankees or Phillies celebrate could opt to check out the Devils' home game against Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals on Wednesday, Nov. 4.
If rainouts or postponements push the series an extra day to Friday, Nov. 6, the Devils will be in Newark hosting the New York Islanders.
