The Rice Owls have released the times for their home football games. The Owls will host six games at Rice Stadium.
They will play three consecutive road games before finally opening the season under the lights at home. See the schedule below.
The Owls finished 10-3 last season and capped the season off with 38-14 thumping of Western Michigan in the Texas Bowl. Record breaking quarterback Chase Clement would be named MVP.
Early 2008 pre-season predictions forecasted the Owls to only win three games---versus SMU, North Texas, and Army. However, the Owls would post their best season since 1949 as mentioned in the previous paragragh. Someone forgot to tell that Rice Owls that they were only supposed to win three games.
Early predictions for the 2009-10 football season might not reflect how good this team will be this season either. For example, Phil Steele's 2009 College Football Preview is predicting a 5th place finish in C-USA West. While it's still too early to tell, I have a slighty different few.
We will take an objective look as the season draws nearer to training camp, (two-a-days). Again, it's just too early to call. And, there's still the big question of who, out of the four candidates, Head Coach David Bailiff will tab to fill the shoes of the departed Chase Clement at quarterback. Those candidates are J.T. Shepherd, Ryan Lewis, Nick Fanuzzi, and Brent Hotard.
Meanwhile, see the home schedule. For the complete schedule, go here.
