Chicago Bauhaus in July Event on Saturday
Dan Godston (The prolific poet/musician/multi media artist has instigated another ambitious, multi faceted, cross disciplinary project (I think it’s his 111th one this year) called Chicago Bauhaus in July.
He encouraged me to submit something to the project, but I admitted that I really did not know that much about Bauhaus yet (although I like Paul Klee, Kadinsky, and “Bela Lugosi’s Dead.”
Anyway, an event related to the project will take place this Saturday (July 25) at 2215 West North Avenue between 3 and 6. The event will feature poetry performances by Al De Genova, Jamie Cazay, Charlie Newman, and Larry Sawyer.
Al De Genova is a well known poet, musician, editor, journalist, and saxophone player. In addition, he is also the editor of After Hours. He has had his own poetry published in Café Review, Oyez Review, and many other publications. He also co-authored Back-beat which was co-authored by Charles Rossiter (His collaborator in avant-retro.) He also co-hosts a show at Molly Malone’s Irish Pub at 7652 Madison with Nina Corwin (The next show is on August 10.)You can hear him read his work at

Jaime Cazay has a blog with many poetry related articles at
http://beautifuldisgrace2.blogspot.com. She moved from California to Chicago, and is currently teaching at Columbia College. Her poems have appeared in Wicked Alice and Columbia Poetry Review. A sample of her poetry can be found at
http://beautifuldisgrace2.blogspot.com/. I have never seen her perform, but she must be good considering the company she is keeping.
Charlie Newman is the popular and dynamic host of a Tuesday night show at The Café (at 5115 North Lincoln.) Three CDs of his recorded poems and four textual collections of his poetry have been released. His poems have appeared in After Hours, Milk Magazine, Saw and honeydu. His work can be heard at

www.milkmag.org. His critical reviews have appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Pitchfork, and Exquisite Corpse. His chapbooks include “Tyrannosaurus Ant and Disharmonium. He is also a fellow examiner blogger and his blog is at http://www.examiner.com/x-8277-Chicago-Poetry-Scene-Examiner
