After watching the Vice Presidential debate last night (which only served to further confirm my political opinions)(and please stop winking, SP!!) a much needed breath of fresh air was in order. I wanted to go see San Francisco based glam rock band Triple Cobra play at the Viper Room last night as they rawk, but laziness has never been my virtue (touche) and settled instead on walking to neighborhood affair Finishing School's Executive Order Karaoke at the MOCA on Grand Avenue.

What's all the hoopla about, you ask? Well. In the dramatic outdoor pavilion setting and surrounded by skyscrapers that was oh so NYC-ish, people competed for prizes (framed pictures of W.) and a grand prize of a $250 much-needed economic stimulus check by singing the President's executive orders (speeches) to famous karaoke tunes like "I Want You To Want Me", "Dancing Queen", "Are You Gonna Be My Girl", "In Da Club" and "Baby Got Back". (Click video for the amusing performance).

The place was teeming with secret service agents, soccer referee's, Sarah Palin, and of course George himself reciting the national anthem. Stay tuned for Finishing School's upcoming events on first Thursdays downtown.
