Give a feline a family this Friday

Each week, the Houston Cats Examiner will tell you about a few kitties in need of a loving home. Millions of animals are put down each year, but by adopting versus buying from a pet store or breeder, you can help.

Please check out the "Adopt a Cat" box in the right-hand column of this page for links to local shelters with more deserving felines in need of families. A full list of shelters in and around Houston is available by visiting http://www.alltheanimals.org/shelterslist.html.

* The Houston Cats Examiner thanks each shelter for use of information and photos and for simply helping animals on a daily basis.

Aubrey

Photo by: Sugar Land Animal Services

I'm a two-year-old lady who loves to be petted. I'm calm and would love a home with a loving lap to lay in and sleep for hours. I won't be any trouble, so please think of giving me a home this weekend.

Want to adopt Aubrey? Please visit the Sugar Land Animal Shelter on the Web at http://www.sugarlandtx.gov.

Kimmie (Adopted! - updated on June 16)

I have been waiting here in a cage since the 1st week in April. Please give me a loving home and set me free from cage life! I am a very sweet Domestic Short Hair, four-year-old girl. My coat is a beautiful blue tabby color. I have been with other cats. Somebody rescued me and brought me here in the hope I might be able to find a home but I keep getting passed by.

Want to adopt Kimmie? Please contact the Citizens for Animal Protection at 281-497-0591 or visit them on the Web at http://www.cap4pets.org/pet-adoptions/cat-adoption.

 Rosemarie

I am quite affectionate and love being petted. No doubt after my rough start, it may take me a little time to acclimate to a new environment, but then you will have yourself a winner (and a beauty!) because I am a real "people cat." Honestly, I prefer to be your one and only princess and will give you tons of love in return. And yes, playing is great too, but I am a sweetheart first and foremost. Please contact HPPL to make arrangements to meet me at the South Shepherd PETCO.

Want to adopt Rosemarie? Please contact the Homeless Pet Placement League by calling (713) 862-7387 or visit them online at http://www.hppl.org/

 Jasper

I'm a one-year-old female, and I'm already spayed! I might look angry in this photo, but trust me, I am friendly and affectionate. Unfortunately, my owner couldn't afford to keep me. I'm ready for a new home.

Want to adopt Jasper? Please call the Houston Humane Society at 713-433-6421 or visit them on the Web at http://www.houstonhumane.org/
