If you're under 18 NYC's indoor and outdoor public pools are free.
If you're over 18 they're not much more.

Where do you find a network of 63 year-round indoor and outdoor pools, weight rooms, yoga, art and dance classes, afterschool programs and even nature centers, throughout NYC, for FREE or no more than $75 for the YEAR.

The best deal in the city?

Relax and enjoy a cool pool. That's what you get when you join the City's parks and recreation centers.

Open six days a week from 6:30 am to 9:30 pm and spaced throughout the 5 boroughs, you're membership is good in all locations.

The cost? Hah! $75 for the YEAR (not the month). If you're over 55 it's $10 bucks for the year and if you're under 18, gratis.

Anyone can join. There are no residency requirements. So if you live in the 'burbs and want a lunchtime quickie, you're good to go. Even if you're an out of town tourist, sign up, work out or swim, give the little ones a free dip.

And the pools are lifeguarded and monitored hourly for cleanliness.

The centers are generally clean and well maintained. Personally, I love swimming in the winter, maybe even more than the summer.
