When I read the headlines today I think about the 5 Stages of Grief model (Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance) and how we seem to be stuck in denial and anger for now.
Too many are flailing about wishing, oh wishing, the old way would come back and then everything would just be fine.
Well, it's not. And I feel fine.
The 9-5 job, the house, doing what you think you're supposed to do, is not the way to thrive today. In my opinion, today you must get creative, innovative and embrace your inner vision to thrive.
It seems to me that now is the time to create more than you take. Embrace your desire to do the thing you love, live it or as closely to it as possible.
See the world as evolving into a new era and not in final decay and you put yourself in the mind-set to receive infinite resources.
As Kubler-Ross noted we can go back and forth between stages and skip some altogether, and everyone does it in their own time, but eventually we must come to Acceptance if we are to move on with our lives and leave the past behind.
1 - Denial - "The fundamentals of our economy are strong" - Sen. John McCain September 15, 2008.
2. Anger - "Are executives villains or morons?" - Newsweek, Feb 24, 2009. "Irish anger grows over economy" - Herald Sun Feb 23, 2009
3. Bargaining - "House passes stimulus bill after heated debate" Money magazine, January 28, 2009.
4. Depression - "Worst economic crises since the 30s with no end in sight" - Wall Street Journal Sept. 18, 2008
5. ACCEPTANCE - What will you be doing to bring this about for yourself? How will you tap the resources and skills you already have to create more in this world for yourself and others?
