Animal Haven offers camp for kids and wine tasting for
adults

Animal Haven has planned two summertime events—one for young professionals and one for the young--that guarantee participants both a good time and the great feeling of helping the Soho shelter’s cats and dogs.

On June 22nd from 6 to 8:30 p.m., the Animal Haven Young Professionals’ Committee (AHYPC) is holding a Summer Wine Tasting at Moore Brothers, located at 33 East 20th Street (2nd floor). The $50 ticket price entitles you to wine and appetizers, gives you the chance to mix and mingle with other animal lovers, allows you to learn more about the AHYPC, and most importantly, is a great way to support companion animals.

For elementary school kids—AHYPC members in the making—Animal Haven is offering Critter Academy, a weeklong-summer program for animal lovers in grades 1-5. Held at the Animal Haven shelter at 251 Center Street (between Broome and Grand), Critter Academy immerses kids into the world of cats and dogs with animal-themed arts, crafts, activities, and games, and guest speaker sessions with vets, trainers, and more. Celebrity experts in the animal field will also be available to help deepen your child’s love for and interest in animals. In addition, kids will learn about pet safety tips and the importance of animal welfare and pet care, and get to say hello to cats and dogs available for adoption at the shelter. At week’s end, each child will receive a graduation certificate and a goody bag.

Animal Haven is planning two sessions, one for third to fifth graders, beginning July 13th, and one for first and second graders, beginning August 10th. The registration fee is $295 per child.
