This Friday June 26, is National Take Your Dog To Work Day.  With more businesses becoming dog friendly this special day is a great way to spend some quality time with your dog  while showing the virtues of dog companionship.  It has been proven that a pet in the workplace reduces stress thus increasing productivity, so pitch that to the boss!  Before taking your dog to work with you check to make sure your work site is an appropriate place for your dog to spend the day.  If your dog thinks pants cuffs are a great tug o' war toy you might think twice about bringing him to the office.  The same goes for a dog who loves to begs for scraps, the bistro might not be the place for him to spend the day following you from kitchen to table.  If your co workers and supervisor are willing to host your dog for a day there are few items that you should take with you to make the day more comfortable.

Bring a blanket or bed and place it in an out of the way area as a place for your dog to settle and get away from activity, especially if he becomes overwhelmed with all the new people and smells.

Tupperware makes a great light weight container for food and water and is not as bulky as your dogs dishes.

A leash or harness for taking your dog out for potty walks and to keep him near you if he becomes excited and wants to be romantic with your office mate or their dog.

Toys and snacks to have your co-workers give to your dog, human interaction especially with treats and toys is a great way for dogs and humans to be more comfortable with one another.

Cleaning items in case your dog has an accident or purposely marks another persons desk as his own.

Bringing your dog to work is a wonderful way to share the joys of dog companionship to those who are dog deprived.
