If you are concerned about the ingredients in your dogs snacks you might think about making your own treats.  The additives, preservatives and some flours, especially wheat in store bought brands may cause an allergic reaction for your dog.  A few years ago there was a massive recall on dog food and treats made in China and recently some studies have linked dental chews to  kidney cancer in dogs.  We all want what is best for our dogs, so why not make a batch of healthy puppy cookies.  I have tried several recipes and after tweaking some ingredients have found this recipe to be my dogs favorite.  Most of the items are already in the pantry with the exception of rice flour or millet which can be found in the heath food section of the local grocery store.  One of my dogs has an wheat allergy, which is becoming more common lately so I substitute rice flour and have had no digestive troubles.  If your dog has no problem with wheat go ahead and use it, wheat flour is not as expensive as substitute flours.  I vacuum seal these cookies and freeze them, if not frozen use them within week.  You can also give these to your friends as gifts, just remember to tell them that the cookies are for their dogs!  Nothing says love like a homemade cookie for your best friend.

Peanut butter Treats

½ cups water(add more water later if required)
½ cup vegetable oil
2 eggs
3 tablespoons peanut butter
2 tsp. vanilla
2 cups rice flour
½ cup cornmeal
½ cup oats

Blend wet ingredients together. Whisk dry ingredients together and mix into wet mixture to form a ball of dough. Roll out and shape. Put onto a non-stick cookie tray or lightly greased one. Cook 20 minutes at 400 F. Turn off oven and allow the biscuits to cool in oven until crisp and hard. Store in airtight container.
